Polish Up Your Style Online

Having worked almost exclusively online during my time working for styling company StitchFix, I quickly realised that while not ideal in terms of delving into wardrobes and examining fabrics, it was a great way to connect with the growing number of clients based all over the country. I'm happy to say that I've continued to work with a number of those clients on a freelance basis and it means I can discuss outfits and swap ideas effortlessly at any time of the day or night.

If you're wondering how it all works and what "Polish Up Your Style Online" actually means, take Rebecca*, who lives on the south coast and was starting with a new company for the first time in twenty years. Following the closure of StitchFix and their online style sessions, she reached out to me to arrange an online call for a Friday afternoon. After half an hour of chatting like friends over a coffee, we established what she was hoping to get from her new work wardrobe and where she'd perhaps like to be a bit more adventurous. Rebecca loves a splash of warm colour but needs her day to day outfits to be practical and versatile - in short, classic comfortable cuts with interest added in the form of seasonal colour and the occasional playful print. With Rebecca's likes, dislikes, fabric and brand preferences noted, I set to work on creating two style inspiration boards detailing pieces that could be mixed and matched together to create numerous outfits that would take her from school run to work and back again. These boards contained click-through links so she could shop the pieces she wanted to try directly ready for our next follow-up styling session. The beauty of this instant form of communication is that in the interim Rebecca could email me with any questions about styling or accessorising, meaning that over the course of a few weeks, the end result was an accessible go-to wardrobe that really lifted Rebecca's spirits in the busy first few months of her new job.

Of course, nothing can replace an in-person personal styling appointment but in this new world we live in, these online style chats have become an efficient and cost-effective alternative. Most importantly, it means I can help people wherever they happen to be (or wherever I am for that matter) and creating new online wardrobes certainly cuts down on the number of escalators I climb each week! Admittedly, I have to remind myself each time I log onto a styling call, to shut the cat away as he loves nothing more than to block the camera by sitting on my keyboard but otherwise I love connecting with new clients in my own home.

If you're interested in an online session, please get in touch to arrange a free consultation call - I'd love to hear from you!
