AW25 - A Wearable Bunch of Trends

The first thing that hit me when checking out the AW25 catwalk shows is that the stand out trends conveniently complement each other beautifully, giving the new season a rather more cohesive (and purse friendly) feel than recent years.
Secondly, I noticed a more ladylike silhouette overall; nipped in waists, lace trims and soft, muted colours dominated the collections and I for one couldn't be more pleased.
This, after all, is September, which means back to school, shorter evenings and credit card statements that reflect a long and glorious summer of carefree spending. With that in mind, it's always a relief to see we can take inspiration for the incoming season from pieces already in our wardrobes. This winter I guarantee you'll have at least one, if not two, of these trends to play around with when you finally decide to pack away your sandals and sundresses.

Here's my round up of the trends to have on your radar for AW25:
The Silhouette
The lady is back! Whether it's a nipped in waist or a skirt length that hits just below the knee, this autumn you can look to old 1950s Hollywood or perhaps even a young Elizabeth II for your style inspo. If you invest in one thing, make it a beautiful statement blouse or a pencil skirt. Wear your skirt Audrey Hepburn style with flats and a sweater during the day or with heels and a sheer or lace blouse in the evening.
The Fabrics
Do I even need to mention faux fur? I'm sure we all have at least one faux fur coat in our arsenal at this point, however it's not confined to outerwear this time. How about a cardigan or jacket with a faux fur collar? Alternatively, a faux fur scarf or a trim on gloves are small details with maximum glam return. Consider a lace blouse with tailored trousers for the evening or lace tights with a pencil skirt. Tick two boxes with a faux fur jacket thrown over a delicate lace trim slip dress.

The Colours
The good news is if you invested heavily in burgundy last year then you'll continue to get bang for your buck this year too. A gentler shade than black for those not blessed with a 'winter' palette, rich chocolate brown is another colour that lends itself perfectly to the knitwear, outerwear and boots we get so much wear out of here in the UK.
The Accessories
Waistlines are reappearing this season so if you haven't got a couple of fabulous belts hidden away in a drawer somewhere, get on Vinted and snap up one in animal print or a big buckle pronto. Belt your coat, knitwear and dresses or find two skinny belts and use both on your jeans. The afore-mentioned fur trim gloves add a chic punctuation mark to a plain coat or jacket while a chunky loafer is a practical commute-friendly shoe that works well with trousers as well as dresses and skirts - money well spent.

For once, the new season is inspirational rather than aspirational; a truly wearable bunch of trends this AW25, ones we can all try out at home. As ever, if you need a bit of extra help uncovering those hidden gems in your wardrobe, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Happy stylish September everyone!
